Cuban Solidarity Network & NCPN film screening
On January 22nd, from 19:00, we will be screening the award-winning film “La Raíz del Olivo” at De Sering. This powerful film presents the stories of five Palestinians living in Cuba, who bravely share their experiences of enduring the escalating genocide and the Israeli occupation, which has persisted for over 76 years. The screening will be accompanied by program of talks from the Cuban and Palestinian solidarity movements in the Netherlands, a Q&A session, and live music.
On November 17, just a month after the start of the genocide, Miguel Díaz-Canel, the President of the Republic and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, held a meeting with 144 young Palestinians studying in Cuba. During the meeting, the students presented keffiyehs to him and members of his government. In their conversation, Díaz-Canel reaffirmed Cuba's strong support for the Palestinian cause, stating, "We will not be indifferent. We condemn Israel's genocide in the strongest terms. You study in Cuba representing Palestine, and we will stand with you so you can fulfill your dreams". It is in this spirit of unwavering resistance that we are proud to organize this screening at De Sering in partnership with the Communistische Jongerenbeweging (CJB). Join us as we raise awareness and stand in solidarity.
Monetary donations to support organizations in Palestine will be encouraged throughout the night, and a designated collection point for material donations to Cuba will be available. A list of materials needed will be shared beforehand!
